- Recognising typical defects and damage resulting from inadequate maintenance
- Carrying out basic inspection and maintenance of crane components and equipment
- Applying appropriate precautions during the operation and maintenance of deck cranes
Scope of the training
The training comprises theoretical classes covering:
- The history of MacGregor cranes
- The construction and components of deck cranes and their basic types
- Types of deck cranes
- Precautions during operation
- Inspection procedures
- Identification of faults and damage
- Maintenance requirements
- Wire-rope replacement requirements
- Typical causes of damage to crane components
- Emergency procedures
- MacGregor and industry best practice
Types of deck cranes covered
Cranes found on merchant ships such as:
- GL, GLG, GLE and others
- Hydraulically powered cranes
- Electro-hydraulically powered cranes
- MacGregor and TTS systems
Certificate: a centre certificate provided to all participants after the training as confirmation of attendance — validity: 5 years
