Training goal
Taking actions related to first aid procedures included in the training program, particularly:
- Recognizing cardiac arrest in adults
- Managing an unconscious patient
- Performing CPR for adults
- Conducting defibrillation
- Positioning the patient in recovery position
- Controlling bleeding
- Recognizing and dressing fractures
- Treating thermal and electrical burns
- Managing patients in shock
- Recognizing and providing emergency treatment for abdominal and chest conditions
- Handling suspected sexually transmitted and tropical diseases
- Performing gastric lavage
- Recognizing poisoning
- Confirming death and identifying irreversible signs of death
Requirements
- Valid certificate in medical care for the sick or a certificate expired no longer than one year ago
- Valid certificate in basic first aid principles (EFA) and advanced first aid principles (MFA)
Certificate
Certificate issued by the Maritime Office, valid for 5 years, requires renewal at a training center.
