The course focuses on maneuvering large and very large container ships under various simulated conditions. It includes theoretical and practical simulator components.

- Stopping: inertial braking, emergency stop
- Steering at low speeds
- Selecting pivot point position through various steering device configurations
- Use of bow/stern thrusters
- Entering and exiting port basins
- Emergency maneuvers
- Anchoring large container ships
